Reimagining population health from the vantage point of the Emergency Department

The HealthiER Institute strives to implement improved, creative, equitable systems of health service delivery to improve population health.

We live in an era of fragmented healthcare systems, increasingly worsening health disparities and inequities, and the evolving nature of disasters and threats to health. Systems of acute care delivery can be improved to meet these new demands, mindful of the lived experiences of patients and their communities.

Emergency Medicine uniquely offers a window into our patient populations’ needs and into health systems’ deficiencies. Working upstream, we can create sustainable, meaningful, thoughtful improvements that will make a difference in the lives of our patients.

Our multidisciplinary approach spans systems science, advanced analytics and predictive modeling, social work, anthropology, sociology, medical ethics, organizational psychology, community health, mixed methodologies, education, advocacy, and health policy. Our advisors and investigators are experts from top academic medical centers and research institutions across the world who are defining the future of population health.
